I just wanted to drop a few quick notes with some random thoughts about my recent experiences writing for a third party publisher (3PP), here at the end of the year. But first, if you're a follower on my blog and haven't checked out Temerlyth the Undying or the Sinister Secrets of Silvermote, then please do! I don't mean to sound bereft of humility, but you'll be missing out! I really think these are top notch old school game works and some of my best ideas in print so far.
I'm also excited to report that both products have now moved into the #2 and #3 spots for "Top Downloads From Other Companies" on Paizo. I think that's not too shabby and accomplishment for a little start up. To someone like me, that's like being #2 and #3 on Billboards Top 40, but in the world of gaming instead. And (!) ...not to denigrate anyone's products in the least but these two appear above several other pretty well established 3PPs.
I've had a lot of fun this year writing for TPK too. We have a lot more in store for next year. I have many more old school ideas gushing from my brain like a golden hemorrhage of great old school goodness. But we're using the newest, best game system in the world! And (!) ...not to reveal too much of my to do list, but I have no less than 5 more brand spanking new adventure ideas all for the Pathfinder RPG! We have more villains coming up and we're even working on a new base class, which is a pretty hefty endeavor, all things considered.
I've also read the entire Pathfinder RPG Inner Sea World Guide. What this means is that I'm now better prepared to offer advice on how our products can be used on Golarion, Paizo's excellent, top-selling game world. I have actually had such requests and felt it was my duty to be better prepared to answer in the future. And (!) ...well, the future's so bright I might have to wear special gnome goggles!
What makes this all the more important to me, on a very personal note, is that I've battled some depression to get here. I don't talk about myself much or my problems and I'm not going to start now, but suffice it to say that this endeavor is very, very important to me. Like many of you, I'm just another American working in a dead-end, thankless, working-class wasteland, during poor economic times. So, this is my accomplishment, my Golden Gate bridge as it were. It's not much, but it's a nice start and it really lifts my spirits to be able to contribute something meaningful to gaming's glorious fabric and have people respond as they have to it, especially through some pretty tough product reviews. And (!)... to have come out with 5 stars is extremely gratifying too!
So, as the year closes, again, I hope anyone stopping by will take a look at what we've done so far and follow Total Party Games (TPK) well into the future!
