The Unhealthy Game

I've been following an interesting thread on EN World on troublesome players and characters. It's interesting because I've had troublesome situations and hadn't really realized this level of angst is so widespread. It's also interesting to see the line blur between trouble player and trouble character in the post.

I think GMs develop tunnel vision over time and forget that others experience trouble too and have a lot of good advice to offer. I think we also tend to forget that plenty of resources exist to medicate problem spots in our games and that not seeking them is a mistake, one that I've pridefully made myself. Worst of all however is when a game becomes so unhealthy that it's no longer sustainable. I've had to end such games, unfortunately, it's never easy, either to do or to identify, but sometimes it's just the best thing to do for an unhealthy game.
