GenCon: Gaming is Alive and Well

It occurred to me this morning that another thing GenCon accomplished for me was validating that gaming is alive and well, not that I needed the validation. However, I’ve read in various forums online, fears that paper games of all sorts are headed for the heap of obsolete things. If you’re feeling this way, then go to a convention and you’ll quickly see that this just isn’t so. I once thought that paper itself would go entirely digital and so a lot of folks think computer games will replace paper games too. Though the one is an analog of the other, they’re two completely separate things. In fact, as pastimes they’re actually compatible, even blendable, as evinced by all the tools available for running paper and digital games on and offline. The issue is way too complex to say that one will destroy the other. Again, they’re not the same thing and in this case, video just isn’t going to kill the radio star.
