The finalists for this year's contest have been announced on the Paizo website. I'll be hungrily reading through all the entries as soon as I'm done cutting and pasting them from the web site. This will make them easier for me to read and comment on offline. I've had too many browser and/or forum snafus eat my comments to want to do it online. I really like Paizo's clean, clear site, but this time of year it gets pretty busy and hang ups just happen.
I've also decided not to read the judges comments ahead of time. I want to come at the items cold and having them offline will help me avoid that temptation. I'm even toying with the idea of throwing an item in my current game if I like it well enough. Won't that be fun! Since I'm idea guy myself, I'm probably not going to say much about the grammatical aspects, but focus on the idea or concept behind the item and of course the game rules. In my book, its the core idea that counts most of all though; the technical stuff can be taught and learned.
I've decided to put some genuine effort into giving the new batch of contestants some valuable feedback and "attend" the event. I encourage you to do the same!
